In early summer 2016, two lives intersected in a dusty fire hall basement in Livingston, Montana. Myranda Jean Hagemann had left her hometown of Omaha to pursue a life of public service digging dirt and lifting heavy things. Robert Sean Warmath had left his hometown of Dallas to pursue similar hard work, low pay, and miserable working conditions. It was the first day of a new season of work at the Yellowstone Ranger District and neither of us were expecting to meet a future spouse. We quickly became friends and could often be found together galivanting around town, picking huckleberries, and arguing over who was the better sawyer.

Myranda has always had a thing for younger men and in late 2017 that cougar finally pounced. She offered to accompany Rob to a wedding in Texas that turned into a glorious adventure through the hill country. She further demonstrated her commitment soon afterwards by driving 10 hours through the wind and snow to pick Rob up from the Denver airport and bring him to Bozeman. It was then that a lightbulb went off in Rob's dense man brain and he realized that she was the one for him.

Over the years we have weathered multiple cross-country moves in pursuit of a life together, at times physically separated for long months while working towards securing stable jobs in the outdoors. In 2022 we were together able to relocate to the mountains of Western North Carolina where Myranda works long heroic hours burning, spraying, and dreaming of trailwork (Wildland Firefighter) while Rob explores the woods without a care in the world (Forester). We have a little house of our own in Murphy with a white picket fence, a bountiful garden, and a lazy wolf dog.
